Days 148-151: A Vision For The Future

Vision Board

Last week ended with me testing my bravery and having a very difficult conversation at work. In fact, I had two very difficult conversations in the past week. Both turned out to be very cathartic and ended well. I felt like a weight was lifted, issues were confronted, and I feel all the better for it. I hate conflict. I’m afraid of disappointing people, saying the wrong thing, getting myself into trouble, all sorts of things… By having these conversations, I chipped away at my fear. I opened myself up to being able to speak up more in the future and trust that it will be okay. I was proud of myself for the first time in a really long time.

Coming out of that week and into the weekend, I was definitely looking forward to Ree’s annual vision board party. It may sound super “LA” to you, but it’s always so nice to get together with some awesome ladies in a supportive environment to talk about what the past year held for us and what we’re hoping to work on in the year to come. There’s a lot of laughter and love. Continue reading…

Days 110-147: Visit Bloomington!

Home sweet home. The glorious town of Bloomington, IL that I typically visit once a year during the holidays. I’ve decided to share with you, dear reader, some of my go to spots, should you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods. (Let’s face it, you’ll probably only find yourself here if you are 1. from here 2. attending ISU or IWU 3. are at a State Farm conference or 4. are driving to/from Chicago or St. Louis to pretty much anywhere else that would take you through IL.)

Without further ado, here are 11 required Bloomington-Normal stops (in no particular order), according to Erin Jennings… Continue reading…

Days 106 – 109 – Oh What Fun!

Every now and then, a girl’s gotta let her hair down. For the first time in a while, I had something I was excited about doing. Something I was actually looking forward to. That something was traveling to Vegas this past weekend to see Sam Hunt in concert for the 6th and final time of 2015. Gail and I have made some pretty incredible memories at his shows this year, starting in Chattanooga, then continuing in Nashville, Irvine, Chula Vista, and Phoenix. We’ve met some cool people and sang and danced until our hearts’ content. Music…it really is my soulmate.

Days 80 & 81 – Flipping The Coin

Saturday was a great day. The weather was perfect, and I spent it driving up to Los Olivos with one of my favorite people to drink wine, eat delicious food, and catch up. Old friends plus good wine plus beautiful weather is the perfect equation for a great day. After that great day my insomnia decided it still wasn’t ready to go away and I stayed up until 5am. Staring at the TV, staring at my phone. Doesn’t matter. There comes a point with it that I start to fight the sleep. I’m so exhausted, but I can’t even bring myself to close my eyes. It’s a real bitch.

One day you wake up and have the perfect Saturday. Then you wake up Sunday and every muscle and bone in your body feels like it weighs a thousand pounds. Flip of the coin – that’s how it goes sometimes.
